Family of 5! :)

Where oh where does the time go!?  All of my well thought out plans of crafting and creating (and blogging) this month have up and disappeared on a breeze!
In particular, this breeze :)

Yup!  Number 3 will be arriving at some point in  August!!  We're pretty excited (aka terrified...what the heck do you do with 3??!)  I swear time has slowed to a standstill over the last couple of months, and I'm hanging out for that magical non existant time when I will start to feel normal again...(maybe in 6 months?)  I'm not liking my chances of the whole weekly update thing, so let's go for monthly...or maybe one for each trimester...? Yeah, that sounds do-able!  To be honest, I could've started bump photos way back in January...I keep hearing that my size is normal, and that by the 3rd baby your body just knows which shape to go...I don't have the heart to tell anyone that I had a belly before I started!
Highlights so far...Lachy asking to go and see the baby "fwoating in mummies tummy"...I wont mention his disappointment at the sight of the grainy black n white blob on the telly!

And so aside from me lounging about feeling well and truly sorry for myself, we've really just been home bodies, soaking up the sunshine (or wilting in the heat/humidity)!

The boys have discovered the advantages to the wee slope in our back yard, and have been waddling their baby bikes up the to the top and then racing down, feet in the air, expressions wild!!

And drawing.  This deserves a whole other post, but I'm squishing it on here in case my next post is 3 years from now.... you know...
My boys have gone from having no interest in art, to drawing up a storm in the space of a couple of weeks!!  I don't understand the sudden interest, but we're running with it!! Our lounge is currently littered with crayons, chalk, white board markers and felts, and the lads are having a blast!!
Below is the very first person my monkey has ever drawn!!  So yes, I took a photo!! (As you do!!)  Proud mama much!?

And so my aim for the remainder of February, is to get dressed (especially if I have to leave the house), maybe attempt some cooking (although thank God for a husband that cooks better than me!) and maybe jump back into the swing of life and just functioning in general!

Just a word of warning...if my blog changes names or looks without warning, it's still me, I'm just showing my amazing indecisiveness!

3 Months old!! :)

My little chub is getting BIG!  Looking so much like his big brother these days, between the two of them i'm just the proudest mama ever!!

Still on breast milk alone, Ollys weight is 6.3kg ( and 63cm long).  In 2 more weeks we will be starting him on a little baby cereal, i'm kinda hopeful that it will make an impression on his (mild) reflex so that we can stop the Omezol and Gaviscon!  He Loves watching us eat, occasionally looking like a little Labrador pup with a lot of drool!

He sleeps so well most nights, often doing a 7 hour stretch before a 3am feed, and then a 3 hour stretch! (Sometimes he decides he should wake every hour, but you get that sometimes!)

The Bumbo and Exersaucer are my new best friends (so long as i can keep Lachy from trying to climb in them too), Olly just adores having a new view of the world!!

He's a real chatterbox (especially in the morning) and will 'talk' to his Daddy for ever in the morning with the hugest smiles!!  He's started doing a little laugh/chuckle too, which is just the most delicious sound!! (Aren't baby-laughs wonderful!)

Baths still aren't fun, but this evening i sat him up after he was clean, so he could sit next to his brother and he was pretty happy sitting there!! (Yay!!) Lachy thought it was great fun too, and was busy pointing at Ollys bellybutton, then his own, just amazed that they both had one!

Olly's pretty tolerant of Lachys rambunctious style of love, but we keep a pretty close eye on the two of them anyway, so he's pretty safe (It's amazing how fast Lachy can move though!) He loves watching Lachy running and jumping around the lounge! I can't wait til they can run and jump together!! (Please guide me back to this post when they're doing just that and are uncontrollable!)

So that's my wee chunka! Doing well, stealing our hearts and making us complete!!

We love you Olly-pop!!

Parenting thoughts!

So tonight at a friends birthday dinner i was able to hear some different opinions on babies and routines. Iv been struggling to get our wee man into a feed/sleep routine and currently im failing miserably! The poor kid just doesn't appreciate the wonder of sleeping during the day like i do! He does try, he really does, but after 10 - 15 mins of pretending to sleep he just cant keep his eyes shut, and then he gets ants in his pants and starts wriggling around in his wrap! We call him 'squirmy wormy' :)

Because he was also only sleeping a max' of 2 hours a night and wanting to be fed every hour as well, sleep was becoming a distant memory! We decided to try the sleep/feed routine to see if that would help. I have to say, his feeding times are much improved (3 - 4 hourly) and his night sleeps are also improving (last night he did two 3 hour stretches!). Unfortunately his intense dislike of day sleeps hasn't changed, unless hes being snuggled by some hapless person that's fallen for his charms, and even then he fights it for all hes worth!

So my issue here is do i continue to attempt to put him in his bassinet for day sleeps or just let him sleep if and when he chooses during the day?? I want to be a more relaxed mummy, but when im failing at routines i tend to lose all concept of being relaxed, and lean more towards being a dragon lady type mum! But if i let him sleep if and when, then i worry that im letting him develop bad habits! ( Do 6 wk olds develop habits??)

Either way that i choose to go there will be critics questioning what i do and why, and experts that have opinions on my style of parenting. I wonder if i can mix the two together?? Can i have a relaxed parenting style that still incorporates some form of routine?? After thinking on the advice i got tonight, i feel i can, and maybe this will be even better for both of us! There's no reason why i cant let day sleeps happen if/when bubs wants, but perhaps i could encourage them instead of try to force them, for example a walk in the push chair would put bubs to sleep and give me exercise and fresh air! That sounds much more pleasant than spending 2 hours trying to settle him into his bassinet and making us both miserable! Then i can just work on improving his night sleeps!

I love that writing things down helps put them into perspective!! Maybe i can be a relaxed mummy! Anywho, thoughts and advice is welcomed with open arms, so feel free to throw it this way!!

Off to sleep now before my lil chippy wakes up again!!
Nite all! :)

Starting out!

I have to admit i didn't stop and think how hard it would be to get a blog started!lol. Thinking of witty things to write doesn't come naturally to my baby addled brain...actually, thinking in general doesn't come naturally anymore! But i'm getting there slowly, and the pages will be completed eventually! I'm still figuring out how everything works too, it's a constant Discovery channel!

Anywho, im feeling quite successful today! My buba had two 3 hour sleeps over night and then napped on and off till about 8am! Yay! We also managed to exercise today! Another big yay, cause it also meant Lachy slept in his pushchair for the duration (just over an hour!). And i managed to get a roast on for dinner, and for once my crackling was Perfect!!
It made me feel quite domesticated as well. Takeout has been pretty high on our dinner list lately and iv been feeling gutted, because i like the idea of being able to put a nice (reasonably healthy) meal on the table for my family!
I even did a pudding!...ok, so it was instant pudding but that's still good!

As for the walk, i loved getting outside in the sunshine and actually doing something! Sitting at home on my bum is only fun for so long and its hard to try to get healthy when its raining and cold and walking with a pushchair is the only exercise i can do with a grumpy bub!
I cant wait till i can get my zumba on again, with the size of the lounge we have i'm bound to break something! I love doing zumba, i always feel slightly coordinated right up till they start dancing and then i look a bit like a jellyfish stuck on an electric fence! Its freakin awsum i tell ya! At least there's no one to watch....although theres nothing wrong with making people laugh!

I took more fotos of my scrumptious wee lad today!! He's so delicious!! I cant believe how amazing our child is!! He spent part of his day (when i'm sure he was s'posed to be napping) 'chatting' to his daddy and just generally looking gorgeous!! Sigh, i LOVE my wee family!! They make me smile and feel so in love every day!!

Ok, bed time!! I promise to myself that i'l work more on this tomorrow!!

"A whole new world"

Ok, not really a whole new world, but it kinda feels that way! I have a reasonably new husband, a fairly new job, and a very new bubs!! For the past few weeks, in fact the past year, iv been trying to find how i fit into all the new shapes that my life has taken, finding a shoe that fits so to speak!

And since pregnancy has worked its magic on my body, i am also literally trying to find a shoe, ANY SHOE, that fits!!

Since i'v been introduced to the blogging world i'v read sum amazing and inspiring blogs, written by real people with real life experiences. I love being able to 'share' their experiences with them and decided that i wanted to have a go at this. So i'm going to share my own story about the life i'm living and want to live, and all the bits that go with it!!

I want to share my experiences about being a new wife, a new mummy, and once upon a time (only 2 years ago) a new registered nurse. Hopefully i can also share the journey towards a healthy, happy me as i tackle the weighty issues that came with the beauty of pregnancy!

Im challenging myself to the task of writing something at least once a week in the hopes that it will hold me accountable and inspire me to be motivated! (Secretly i also want somewhere to show off my scrumptious new buba!)

So here goes.....
