11 Months old!!

That's right!!  11 Months!!!!

Sigh, again, where did the time go???  I have an almost Toddler....when do they even become a toddler??  I have no idea!!  But monkey continues to blow me away with his Awesomeness!!!

Whats new this month!!

#  Lachy is eating quite a lot of what we're eating now, which is making life a whole lot easier!!  He still doesnt like big lumps, but he munches back like a champ!

#  He's down to 2 bottles of formula a day, with water throughout the day and 1little cup of cows milk at lunch, which he's still not hugely keen on :(

#  We have graduated to a weetbix with apple and warm water for breakfast!!  Lachy Loves weetbix!!

#  Still high speed crawling and crab walking every where!  (and furniture walking like a little mad man!)  

#  Monkey will walk with us, and has taken the odd step here and there, but just isn't that interested in walking unless he's trying to get something off the table!

#  Climbing is still a favorite thing for Lachy, into his toy box, over anyone sitting on the floor, off the couch....

#  Still sleeping like a trooper!!....at night anyway!

#  Is getting pretty clever at 'helping' mum put toys away!!  He even put the potato's into the potato bin today!!  (They're a bit slimy now, but that's ok, gives them...character....)

#  Monkey will beg for food.  If daddy has dinner after he's finished, he'l race over to where daddy's eating and try to sit in his dinner plate to sample what's on it!!

Whats getting old...

#  Back to that old tooth waiting game.....i hate this game.

#  Lachy has started whining.  It's not a nice sound, and its usually followed by a fake cry.  How to deal with this without giving in to him???

Monkey's just such a happy wee chappy (99% of the time) he makes life Awesome!!  Seeing his smiley face and tongue poking out as he barrels towards me is just Amazing!! 

 I have the best kid Ever!!

You'll have to excuse the lack of photo dumps this post, i haven't taken anywhere near as many as i should've!!  I'l dust off the old camera and start taking more i promise!!!

Oh my Gaaarden, Clementine!!

".....Now she's lost and gone forever, dreadful sorry, Clementine!!"

Did i ever mention that me and gardening dont get along that well??  We dont.  And now, after a magical summer, my garden is rebelling! 

Oh wait, so i should probably quickly catch you up on my garden!!  Outside, my silverbeet, spinach and strawberries are still going strong (kinda growing like weeds really!) and my leeks and chives are...well, i wouldn't call what they're doing thriving, but they're standing!!  My bean plant only has one remaining stalk, but that's still sprouting magical giant beans!!  

So that parts going well, however, the indoor garden i started is not.

I decided that we should have broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce and carrots for winter, and set about tinkering with what i call my 'indoor garden'.

So far i'v replanted everything twice.  The lettuce three times.  It's just not happening.

All of my attempts have ended up looking like this.  It's very sad!  (I should mention that the carrots haven't even left the seed packet yet!!)

I'd like to just add a picture of one of the reasons i'v been away from my garden for long periods of time....

I hate these critters!!!  They're horrible and icky and they watch every move you make!!  It's just not a happy time when i see them in the garden.

So i'm gunna have one last attempt at creating a new section of garden, crossed fingers and prayers for the health and safety of my plants are welcome!!  I promise to update in about a month about how my wee seedlings are doing.....as soon as i remember where i put them....

The joy of pregnancy!

I want to do a blog post, i really do!!  But looking at my computer screen is not really working for me right now!!  I'd always remembered what a miserable time i had with my last pregnancy, but somehow figured that this one would be different....It's not.

The constant debilitating nausea is the same.  The constant heartburn is the same.  The dizzy spells are the same.  The strong smells that make me gag are also the same. That constant urge to sleep is the same too.  The constant headache is new...

Ginger beer/tea, dry crackers/toast, sleep, sea sick bands, fresh air, stewed apple, chicken soup, vitamins, homeopathic remedies...i'v tried them all with varying degrees of success.  (Any other suggestions?)  Now im trying to function like a normal person and it's interesting to say the least.

I eat toast every 2 hours, drink ginger beer and take anti-nausea medication whenever im totally desperate and pray that im actually further along than i think and this part will all be ending soon...dreams are free!

I know i shouldnt be moaning, but pregnancy and me just dont mesh well!  We never have!  Even once the 1st trimester has past with all its manky horrors, i find even more surprises waiting for me in the 2nd and 3rd!!  (i do try to keep in mind that somewhere at the end of 40 odd weeks i'l have another beautiful wee bubba who will make it all worth it!!)

These are my feet at 35 weeks with Lachy.  I couldnt even get jandals on.

So if my posts are few and far between, it's just cause i'v spewed on my computer and fried it i cant stand looking at the screen for too long at the mo!

Anywho, il stop my wee pity party now and go have a nap (yes, 10.20am is a good time for a nap)

Fun in the Sun/The cake part 2

We're gunna ignore the fact that this was sposed to be posted however many weeks ago (you know, at the actually weekend in the pics) and just carry on like it happened this weekend just gone!!  

Any who, this is just one large photo dump of monkey bum!!  Trying to help daddy mow the lawns, at the park, and my second attempt at Lachys birthday cake!!

 Cake number 2

Much improved on the last one for sure!!!

And the icing was AWESOME!!! Marshmallow fondant found here!!

 

This fondant was just like the real stuff! (not that i have even touched the other stuff in the cake icing process)  The finished product was alot closer to what i hope to achieve for monkeys birthday, i'm sure with a bit more time and practice il get it perfect!!...(my idea of perfect may be slightly warped)

This is the first time monkey's ever fallen asleep in his high chair (i think, my memories not the most reliable though!) His day was obviously far too exciting!! (I know the feeling, i really do!)

I love these challenges!!  I hope i can get off  my bum and do them more often!!  Here are my 2 entries for this week!!

This is on the drive to drop my monkey off first thing in the morning!!  It's kinda nice driving into daylight!!

Rule of Thirds!!

So im still getting used to this one and imagining my wee grid....Im getting there!!  Monkey-bums cuteness makes up for my lack of skills anyway!! :)

Hopefully i get in a bit earlier with next weeks challenge and not leave it til the day before it closes!!

The Cake...

I truly don't like cake.  Sure il eat it occasionally, but if i had a choice fudge would win every time!!  This weekend i decided to attempt a practise run of the cake i want to make for Lachy's birthday in a couple of months!  It was in fact a friends idea (thanks Carena) and im so grateful to her for this suggestion, cause things did not go to plan!!

I got to try out a fancy mixer type thing for the first time, and apart from a few mishaps, i loved using it!!  I chose a chocolate cake recipe that i'd seen my friend use and this turned out well, then i watched a few YouTube videos to try and figure out how to make the 'Wonky Cake' that i so desired!!  My next mistake was to see a sponge cake as the perfect cake for a top layer, i mean, it's nice and light and wont likely sink so who wouldn't pick it!?

What didn't occur to me (and probably should'v) was how crumbly a sponge can be when cut, and my top layer needed a lot of cutting!!  Not to mention bits added on!!

Hubby was on hand for clean up duty...

So i layered and shaped and iced the bottom layer, and it turned out reasonably well!  Not the color i was trying to achieve but i didn't want to use more in case i coated everything with it.

The bottom layer was a disaster!!  The sponge was falling apart as i tried to shape it (Who knew sponge would crumble?!....Oh, Everyone??), then it stuck to the icing as i tried to ice it, and then the icing pulled the top layers off the sponge tier and nearly made me cry!!

The results...A square cake with a slightly munted mushroom on top.  (Please note, i was not trying to make any form of mushroom on this cake)

The moral of this story is, practise is a good thing....a really good thing!!  Attempting this was heaps of fun, but i think some more research is in the cards before my next attempt! Now if you'll excuse me i'm going to go and drown my failure with the Russian fudge i just whipped up!! :)
