My Fisher-Boys

Ahhh, fishing!  I have such fond memories ... casting my line out, the smell of fish bait sitting in the sun, losing a multitude of sinkers in the rocky shores of the Coromandel ... The wee tugs on the end of my fishing line, the excitement of landing my first Snapper, finding crabs and seaweed instead of the hoped for fish, seeing the Gurnard I caught earlier in the day becoming dinner ... It stands to reason that I married a man who shares my enthusiasm for the joy that is fishing ... and that our children would be educated in the ways of the fisherman ...

I confess, we were by far more excited about this than the boys were .... until they saw their very own fishing rods, and then it was all on!! Although the weather wasn't the greatest we toddled off to the closest stretch of salt water ... Raglan!

And on a teeny concrete pier (call it what you will) my boys got to 'help' their dad ready the lines with hooks and sinkers, before plopping them into the water below!!
 

With an enthusiasm that would make all the grandparents proud, the boys proceeded to reel in their lines so that we could cast them out again .... and again ...

and again ... and with the occasional mention of jelly-fish (Curse you Mickey Mouse Clubhouse for an unrealistic view of fishing) they were cast out again!

Eventually the wind picked up a bit too much and lines began to tangle faster than we could fix them, so it was time to call it a day for the fisher men!

And so it was over to the playground and beach for a run around and the best burgers I have Ever tasted at the camping grounds! (Except for Fergburger ...they shall always have my stomachs heart)

There may also have been ice-blocks and selfies!!  And some funny faces too! (And did anyone notice that I finally finished one of the snoods I was knitting!!??)

And yeah ...we fed the birds some leftover chippies.  These birds were seriously talented, and would swoop and catch the chippies before they hit the ground!!  The boys thought it was Awesome ... although I possibly found it even more hilarious than they did!

And then I started to get paranoid about getting pooped on, so it was off to find some puddles ... and some dry clothes ...

And the playground too ...

Then it was time to take our sleepy lads home!

My boys!!  They did so well with their new fishing rods, and had so much fun splashing through puddles and chasing the seagulls!!  And for me and my bearded man, it was a brilliant escape from day to day life, where we could give the boys a peek into one of our favourite past times!

Time to Breath..

After an amazingly busy month of markets and jewellery, I'm taking some time to just breath.  I'm going to cook something different...race trains and monster trucks with my boys...watch a movie with my Hubster..(Dear God, did i really agree to watch Star Wars??)...I'm gunna write some blog posts...peruse pinterest....read a book...Maybe I'll even squeeze in craft or two!
 The possibilities are endless!! 

There will also be housework thrown in there somewhere i guess, although i hear that housework is bad for you...something about dust and rubbish and blah blah blah and i should probably just give that a miss..

We took a day off last month to escape to the beach for the day to blast away the winter germs, and it was SO GOOD!!  The warm sand, the sounds of the ocean, the icy cold water, the sounds of my boys exploring something different and exciting!!

Why yes, they are in their PJ's!  After 2 and a bit months of coughs, colds, tummy bugs and ear and throat infections we had pretty much given up trying to look presentable!

Checking out the shells and drift wood under the bridge!!  The boys are so curious about everything now, and they soak it all up like handsome little sponges!! I can see the 'Why?' stage approaching pretty quick...

We stopped at a Coin Save on the way to the beach and bought the boys a bucket and spade each.  These were promptly filled with sand and shells and then tipped over heads...still not sure if they were a good purchase or not!

I wasn't sure how the boys would go around the water, but they were happy just looking, and then they were off chasing seagulls.

Discovering empty crab shells!  I hate crabs...with a vengeance (yes, even the teensy ones)...and trying not to pass this fear on to the kids is quite hard when i really don't want to touch the darn things!!  Kinda like bugs....If one of my boys has an insect on them they'd better hope their dads home to remove it!!

And then the water became appealing!! It was freezing, but still good (once your feet go numb the temperature doesn't matter)!!  We let them splash and make mud pies for a wee bit, then walked back to the car for a wardrobe change! Some hot chips and a play in the playground made for a Great end to the day! 

LOVE hanging with my Family!!   (Mostly because they don't mind my yoga pants and PJ shirt)  Speaking of yoga pants and PJ shirts, i'm gunna be gracing ya'll with my impression of a fashion/style (i use those words in the loosest possible way) post!!  Stay tuned, that will likely be a post worth seeing!...Cause a bit of a laugh is always good.  As is being made to feel good about your own fashion sense! It's a public service really....you're welcome :)

And now if you'll excuse me, i have to go and figure out a way to erase the pen scribbles that are now gracing the pages of the 'Toddler Taming' book that i borrowed from the library...

Beach Bubby!!

This post is basically just a photo dump from a FANTASTIC day in Whitianga with my mum!!  The sun was shining, the watermelon was flowing (Thanks mum!!) and the sea was warm!!  My Chunky-monkey was just mesmerised by the sand and the water!! (and possibly by my lilly-white legs!!)

Lachy got to have a play in the water with me and his Bubu!  He was a bit hesitant to start with, but he eventually looked like he was enjoying himself!!

Playing in the sand was just Awesome for bubba, and he even sampled some of its tastiness!! (Washing it out of his mouth proved a bit tricky, so lets just consider it an internal exfoliant?)

(Arent kids hats just the cutest!!  He also has one in blue stripes that has an elastic band for under the chin!!  They just serve to make my boy look like an even scrummier, tasty little treat!!)

Hubby and Quibbles (Not his real name, but still awesome!!)  sat under the sun 'brolly like little old men while us women folk taught the chubby-cheddar about the deep blue sea!! (Even though it's looking pretty green right now!)

After drying bubba off, i went for a swim while Lachy pee'd on his daddy :)

After another 'rinse' in the sea it was time to head home to mums for a snooze and some more watermelon before the big drive home!!

Just a Perfect day all round really!!  Looking forward to another weekend of journeys to meet up with family, which means everyone else can look forward to a whole lot more photos!!  Whoop whoop!!
